There is a movie I would like to see called "Food, Inc." No, it is not a vegan move but it does shed light on America's agricultural system. Could you just imagine what would be possible if Americans themselves had the power to bring more and more local and organic produce to average supermarkets? It makes me giddy just thinking about it, but then again I am a food nerd. Enjoy this video!

Scrapblog for Nana

My maternal grandmother passed away in April of this year. I have been thinking about her a lot lately, and since I already created a scrapbook page for my paternal grandmother I figured it would help me grieve if I did the same for Nana. It was a good experience, and I look forward to scrapblogging more pictures of her. For those of you interested in scrapbooking but would like to check out online options go to scrapblog.com and look up my name. I'd love to see what you come up with!
P.S. Click on the picture to make it bigger!

Vegan Shoes
Most people have a hard time finding the perfect pair of shoes. Imagine finding that perfect pair only to discover that they are made out of leather! When you are doing your best to live a compassionate, guilt-free lifestyle; this just doesn’t fly! Searching for vegan shoes can be especially hard in a rural area. We just don’t have those fancy vegan shoe stores like “Mooshoes” which is located in New York City. It is even tougher to find affordable, sturdy, comfortable vegan shoes. This is why I opted to buy vegan shoes online. I found these cute, comfortable, pleather work shoes by Dirty Laundry at “Alternative Outfitters.”
I was pleasantly surprised with the cute, comfortable, normal-looking work shoes that showed up on my door step! I will definitely order from “Alternative Outfitters” again. By the way, if you are a facebook or myspace fan you can get a discount on your order!

Part of a complete (vegan) breakfast....
This past Monday was Labor Day. I wanted to make my family a special breakfast, so I made pancakes. It's very easy to make pancakes, even vegan ones. I left out eggs and used 1 tsp of baking powder, 1 tsp of baking soda. Of course I also used almond milk instead of cow's milk. I also used pure maple syrup, because there is no substitute for the real thing in my opinion. I made a calcium-enriched smoothie to go with the meal out of vanilla almond milk, calcium-fortified orange juice, and frozen mango. My husband and son ate their pancakes so enthusiastically, that I regretted telling them I had no more pancake batter left. I should definitely double the recipe next time!
